For cheap and cheerful après-ski, it's hard to beat the duty-free resorts of Andorra, of which Pas de la Casa is by far the liveliest. The purpose-built Sixties resort, which sits at the top of the Grandvalira ski area on the border with France, is rammed with pubs and clubs which attract a young, mainly British crowd.

I reckon a few hours spent in the new indoor Freestyle Academy in the Swiss resort of LAAX is about as much fun as you can have on a mountain without your skis on. The only one of its kind in Europe, it was designed to provide a safe, padded environment for skiers and boarders to learn and perfect their tricks.
