More cruises cancelled as UK government advises against ALL ocean voyages

Princess Cruises has cancelled selected cruises up to 15 December in Africa, the Caribbean, the Californian Coast, Hawaii, Mexico, Panana Canal, South America and Antarctica, Japan, Tahiti and the South Pacific.

Operations out of Australia on the Majestic Princess, Regal Princess, Sapphire Princess, Sea Princess and Sun Princess have been suspended until 29 October.

Guests booked on cancelled cruises who have already paid the full fare are being offered an additional 25% credit to rebook, however, they do have the automatic right to a full cash refund instead.

Princess Cruises’ President Jan Swartz said: “We share in our guests’ disappointment in cancelling these cruises. We look forward to the days when we can return to travel and the happiness it brings to all who cruise.”

The UK Foreign Office is currently advising against all ocean cruises, including cruises from the UK, indefinitely. That means that if you do take a cruise, you could invalidate your travel insurance.

The FCO said its advice, which is based on medical information from Public Health England, applies to ocean-going cruises, not river cruises.
