UK cruises are expected to restart from 17 May when the ban on foreign holidays is due to be lifted.
Maritime Minister Robert Courts made the announcement to a group of MPs at the All Party Parliamentary Maritime and Ports Group meeting yesterday.
A spokesperson from the Department for Transport later told the Independent that the return to domestic cruising would be in line with the restart of domestic holidays and reopening of indoor venues.
It said this would not be before 17 May.
A number of cruise lines, including P&O Cruises, have swapped Mediterranean cruises for sailings around the UK this summer.
Over 50s cruise line Saga is still planning to offer international cruises for vaccinated passengers, but it has pushed back its re-start date to 27 June.
