Virgin Voyages says customers must be vaccinated

Virgin Voyages has become the latest cruise line to insist that all guests are vaccinated against Covid.

Saga was the first UK travel company to announce that all its customers must be vaccinated before its operations resume later this year.

It endured a social media backlash after announcing the move, but on the whole it said the majority of its customers welcomed its decision to allow only vaccinated passengers.

Virgin Voyages said the “the future is about vaccinations”.

Virgin Voyages is expecting to launch its first cruises on its new ship Scarlet Lady in the US on 9 May from Miami.

Both Saga and Virgin are adult-only cruise lines, with Saga’s customers all over the age of 50.

Virgin Voyages’ was supposed to debut last year but its inaugural sailing was cancelled due to Covid.

It has taken delivery of a second ship, the Valiant Lady, during the pandemic. It will enter service in the Caribbean in November.
